Think long term and be successful

If you want to shed some pounds, then think about it as a long term project rather than something that has to be achieved in the least possible time – that way, you are far more likely to be successful.

Just the word ‘diet’ has the majority of us longing for chocolate and chips, so banish that word and think about the changes that you can make gradually so that what you eat has an impact on your health – and your weight, without it all becoming a marathon chore.

For example, make some healthier choices, such as using an olive oil spread instead of butter, and include fresh ingredients in your meals. By making small and manageable changes to what you eat means that you’ll be enjoying (not enduring) the choices that you are making – and with each change you make, you’ll be on the way to a slimmer and healthier you.
